Experience and The evolutionary arguments
If we want that any evolutionary arguments to have an impact in the the debate of conscious experience (phenomenal experience), we will have to accept as a premise the fact that phenomenal experience has a causal role.
Only if this causal role of phenomenal experience is assumed we can say that it has a contribution to our behaviour and implicit in our survival (or gene reproduction).
If any causal role is denied for phenomenal experience (a view advanced by Chalmers – by it’s zombie mind experiment) then any evolutionary argument can be ignored in our discussion related to phenomenal consciousness.
